here is the source code (https://bitbucket.org/796f/multichan/)!! it's public domain so you can download it and do whatever you want with it. it's currently a work in progress so any tips are accepted!!
the next release will have a "tree board" frontend (like usenet) and there will also be a special "relay" tool that can archive boards from other parts of the internet and translate them into multichan , my friend meltingwax is also working on a desktop client that looks like microsoft outlook!
2021 is the year of the textboard! :yay:

Is Python your personal preference for the backend or is there a specific reason for it?
All I see these days is Node.js + Express. Though at work we had to do a few Python servers because that's all the data scientists know
I don't mind as long as I don't have to work on those, the syntax makes me uncomfortable
