Oh nevermind I get it, it seems like kore is vague, like you aren't saying what 'this' is, wheras kono comes before an item you're talking about. I think... :gloom:

I thought it was the other way around, これ、was "this"  and この was "this" object near me.

Edit: I think I read your post wrong. You had it right in the first place. I'm slowly becoming illiterate.  :shock:
