/r9k/ was only good, no, GREAT even, in its first week, it was /b/ without the reposts and edgy people, only OC and civil discussion by people from various walks of life
Everyone who had scattered to the special interest boards after /b/ got flooded by newfags in 2006-2007 now had a place to come back together in
After that it was average for a year, because too many people got in there and diluted the good stuff
Then it became sort of okay as OC became less, but this was true for most of 4chan, with exceptions like /co/ and /tg/
And then it became increasingly shit as people realized it was pretty pointless to browse it, with no real topic of discussion to be had, like so many off shoot image boards and message boards
Then at one point it became even more shit than /b/ because the Robot kept out the reposts which kept actual /b/ on life support
Then it just became stale as people abandoned it, left with no purpose, moot removed it
Some people begged for it to come back, because special snowflakes weren't tolerated on /v/
moot was like 'whatever nerds' and it came back. And it was mega boring ya'll.
Then it became overrun with pathetic losers, and boring normalfags who felt out of place on every single special interest board but still craved hipster cred for using 'teh 4chan sekkrit internetz klub!!1"
And then the pathetic losers became overrun by people even lower on the social ladder as most of them got bored with this latest fad site and flocked over to reddit instead
The omegas who were left then form a circle jerk, trying to prove how they are less omega than their brethren by making up lies and pretending to blaze it every day, and basking in a n ocean of 'pseudo intelligence' and copy pasting wiki articles to prove how clever they all are
I stopped visiting at this point
Some years later and now you people think its a nice place all of a sudden? Are you kidding me?
Do you even realize what it says about you? And the ideas you're getting about the world?
