Let's talk Nasuverse (Fate Stay/Night, Tsukihime, Kara no Kyoukai, etc.)
For Tsukihime, do I read the VN or the manga?
I've only seen the anime. Please don't hate me.
-
I-I've played Melty Blood...
-
It's all a bunch worthless shit full of plot holes and general bad writing.
KnK part 2 is the only passable thing.
-
>full of plot holes and general bad writing
Can't argue with that.
Yet KnK is one my all time favourite anime for when it does get it right. And Part 2 was the best of it. Similarily I enjoyed Fate/Zero.
But the Fate/Stay VN. Oh my god the VN. I don't know if it's the translation that magnifies the bad, but that is the worst writing I've ever made myself endure to the end. That people are recommending it over the anime adaption (not UBW, the first one) is legitimately terrifying, for the idea that something not just worse, but exceptionally worse, exists and is loved by entry level weebs, is just... madness.
The idea behind Fate/Stay is interesting, but the execution... :sad2:
-
If you haven't read Tsukihime you should do that now
-
I just tried reading F/SN the vn.
It's as bad as Ming says it is.
Truly terrible writing.
"She has shown some capacity for even making yam soup by grinding yams"
Is this a machine translation? It's so clunky.
And why would you tell us that she can grind yams?
Is that supposed to be indicative of her cooking skills?
That's like calling myself a chef for grating cheese.
-
Is tsukihime like kara no kyoukai but with shiki being a male ?
-
Yes and no. Shiki in Tsukihime is like a weird blend of Shiki and Mikiya from KnK with some twists.
But the plot is entirely different, minus Shiki just like Mikiya falling in love with a strong, dangerous woman (Arcureid, at least in the route the manga adapted).
Do not watch the anime, it chops things up and is very rushed. The manga is quite good though.
I haven't played the VNs, so I can't comment on those.
-
Wait what.
Shirou goes to school with no protection, while Rins there.
Someone who he has no chance of winning against.
And she just told him that she considers him an enemy.
There's dense, but then there's plain retarded writing.
-
It's because he's in love with her and WANTS TO BELIEVE
-
But he acknowledges that she's declared him an enemy.
He even says it out loud.
Goddamn there's so much potential here but it's buried so deep.
-
So?
If a girl I liked said she was now my mortal enemy, it wouldn't change the way my heart feels

-
That's not what I meant.
If Shirou was a realistic character he would have killed himself out of love right then and there.
But he didn't, what the fuck?!?!?!
-
You can't love someone when you're dead.
-
love isn't rational
:ok:
-
Is there a reason Shirou spergs out at the thought of a girl being in his house?
Jesus dude, Tohsaka's just having lunch with you, not fuck you.
I actually really like the fight scenes though.
-
Not really. Just another piece of poorly written VN. I mean, even I wouldn't act like this.
-
I'm tempted to do a fsn fanfic just to see if I could do better than Nasu.
I'd call it f/ns "Fate not shit"
-
Rin wants to do it with me!
You nerds jealous?

-
wow there's a way to play vn on mobile, didn't know :eee:
If it's the scene where he asks her to remove her stocking, could you screencap the whole scene pls ?
-
Yeah, but not all VNs work.
I would screen cap it, but you can probably just find it on exhentai right?
-
I finished reading the VN last night.
For all the sloppy writing, it was actually really enjoyable.
Somehow I got the UBW route though. Isn't Fate supposed to come first?
-
Maybe you played a modified version or something.
You're supposed to unlock routes one by one (Fate, UBW, and finally Heaven's Feel)
-
Yeah, maybe it's due to running it on my phone.
It said I unlocked HF, but the menu didn't change or anything.
Fuck this, I'm going to read Tsukihime
-
I was bored, and since my PC isn't accessible right now, I started browsing anime on Netflix.
Currently watching Fate/Zero with only knowledge of the background of FSN. How fucked am I?
-
Not fucked at all.
Most of it is explained well. It was my first fate too.
Use your TVs web browser for kissanime instead
-
Fate/Zero is easy to get into even without reading FS/N
It's a bit slow at the start but shit really gets going after a few episodes
-
You've just been forced into the api holy grail wars. Who is your servant?
I'd pick Saint Nicholas, the greatest legend of them all.
His noble phantasm 'bottomless toysack' enables him to use literally any noble phantasm ala Gilgamesh but better.
-
tell me more about what a servant is supposed to be in this setting and i'll choose something
-
A servant is a reincarnation of some sort of legend. There are 7 classes of servant: lancer, rider, archer, caster, beserker, saber, and assasain.
Each servant has a trump card weapon called a noble phantasm.
For example, in FS/N Saber is King Arthur. Their noble phantasm is excalibur. also Arthur is now a chick. That's not important though
-
Okay i'll choose Theodora, the Byzantine Empress that was so lewd that she wished she had the ability to let men have sex with her nipples because she didn't have enough holes.
-
Is her noble phantasm her vagina?
Does she just end the war by convincing everyone else to have an orgy?
-
Richard the Lionheart.
Deus Veult.
-
Hmmmmm...
I don't know of many historical heroes. Maybe Grigori Rasputin or Aleister Crowley as a caster type. They could teach me cool stuff!
Not sure what their noble phantasms would be. Maybe miraculous healing/demon summoning?
-
Who is your servant?
I'll go with Leonhard Euler. Caster. Noble phantasm: Summon God.
Anyway... :sweatdrop:
For Tsukihime, do I read the VN or the manga?
You had better have read the VN by now.
Is tsukihime like kara no kyoukai but with shiki being a male ?
KnK came first and is more about magi than it is about vampires.
-
I read the manga(s)
I'll get to the VN eventually, I swear!
