Why are shows about men becoming best friends and bromance simply the best?

Obligatory cheesy AMV to demonstrate point.

I've recently decided to rewatch the show before checking Rising out. Anyone else a fan? If you haven't seen it, it's pretty much "what if super heroes were commercialized spectacles instead of being vigilantes". It deals with stuff like, what it means to be a hero, a father, experiencing and coping with loss, life priorities, building friendships, etc.

Here's what wikipedia has to say:

"It is set in a futuristic city where heroes fight crime whilst promoting real life sponsors, focusing on two superheroes, the old-fashioned Kotetsu T. "Wild Tiger" Kaburagi and the rookie hero Barnaby "Bunny" Brooks Jr., as they are forced by their employers to work together."

"In Anime News Network's Spring 2011 preview guide, Zac Bertschy gave the first episode a 5 out of 5. He states that it set up a great and clever superhero premise with some twists. He also said that the show has "the potential to be the kind of smash hit we haven't seen in a long time".[18] While Theron Martin gave it a 4.5 out of 5, he credits Sunrise for their excellent hero designs and CGI animation. He also stated that it had the look and feel of an American animated series.[19]"

So check it out. Or not.

I think the commercialization concept is somewhat interesting, and I find that my tastes tend to be generally similar to Zac Bertschy's (his favorite anime is Utena, yo.) who you've quoted saying positive things about it, but despite all that I just can't do super hero stuff. Especially when there's CG involved. So I ended up avoiding this show like the plague.

I liked this show.

Favorite characters? Can't really remember. Probably girl who falls in love with main character man, and the edgy antihero vigilante, if only because he was instrumental in that plot that saved main character man late in the show.

FUCK

NO

Everything cool about the show is never going to get featured in a hollywood movie

And they'll use some pig disgusting 3d actors to portray Tiger and Bunny.

UNACCEPTABLE!

HOLLYWOOD!

What I want to know is why they chose THIS show.
It's not l t has a huge mainstream fanbase in the west, like say, Attack on Titan.
So maybe it's because Howard secretly loves it and wants to do it right :yay:

Coming 2017: Edge of the Tiger.

Oh that's easy. Product placement. Every hero is COVERED in company logos, if you hadn't noticed. The ones for the show's real life sponsors. Hell each episode has the same 4 second Pepsi commercial in it, with Blue Rose.

Even if it just does okay-ish in ticket sales and for the home release, it will still make a ton of money from sponsorships and product placements.
