It's currently the national elections in my country.
Since we don't really have a president and only elect a senate, we have a lot of small party entering the race because they can still hope to grab a few seats. This has the side effect of amusing me when I browse through the list of the competing politicians.
For example we have the national democrat Swiss party.
There's also this party called "blank vote", made of people thinking that just voting blank isn't enough so they offer to be a blank vote. Meaning that, should they be elected, they would all quit or only go to the assembly meetings to vote blank. It's their way to, and I quote them, "hacking the system".
The pirate party has a serious list this time, and even a good program. They don't really hold an opinion on the immigration and employment subjects but they want some modification in the constitution and the way we run our political machinery, which kinda make sense, who would improve the democratic machinery, or at least can be argued to do so. They also want the government to use free softwares every time it's possible.
Quite a lot of the (serious) party talk about replacing the draft with a national service who would draft men and women alike. I don't know if they will really push this during this term but I'm happy just seeing it on their program.
