While the song is credited to someone else, the song is composed Shinsei Kamattechan. The unique production can only really be ascribed to them. The show itself is produced by SHAFT, which is made obvious by the odd imagery.

I've been meaning to get around to Planetes. Since I really enjoy the creators other work Vinland Saga. I've only heard good things about it too

I really liked the episode about the girl raised on the moon.
I didn't know humans would grow differently in low grav conditions, so it was neat to see that in an anime.
Especially how her body would collapse if she ever went to earth. I hope they explore that sort of thing more later in the show.

The second half is shitty

the one pilot dude goes off to earth because he really really really wants to join the manned mission to jupiter. All the other characters take a huge backseat and it's all about his angsty journey and it sucks because none of the other cool characters get any spotlight, including the girl who he just completely cuts out of his life for no reason.

Which pilot dude.
You mean Hachiman?
I'm not sure I'd mind it too much if it's him, since I really like that character.

Oh.
Fuck.
Shame. I really liked how hard the sci-fi is in this show.
It's a refreshing break from things like Gundumb.

if it's the same guy who did vinland saga, that makes sense

they both have arcs of cool characters being annoying and brooding.
