Kind of want to play Path of Exile again. Saw that Ice Spear has had its painfully low damage brought up AND there's some new fancy enchant-self spell that gives extra cold damage even to spells. So its actually viable to level as the build I want now without having to get a unique item to make the damage not horrible.  :sing:

If any PoE player is curious, this is what I have in mind:

Ice Spear has a huge base critical hit rate AND gets a 600% bonus to critical hit chance (for a ridiculous 49% chance to critical strike without any other bonuses).

By using this with Cold to Fire, you can cause ignite whenever you want, for an okay bit of damage now that the base damage ain't so bad. Since your using critical hits to apply it though, you can boost this small little on the top bonus into a high amount of damage by grabbing critical hit damage multipliers.

...Which can then be made to afflict a large AoE with Elemental Proliferation. Freezing and burning hordes down reliably with just a tiny little projectile. Fire once or twice and walk away as mobs burn, frozen in place unable to chase.

Best part is with the Three Dragons unique item, you can switch the status effects inflicted to ignite and shock. Which will multiply damage something ridiculous (close to five times the damage with three shock stacks) because ignite double dips the shock damage bonus (the initial damage is boosted by shock, making the ignite damage higher, which is then factoring in shock once more)

I've tried melee. But it just feels... off. It's so stationary.

I've toyed with the idea of more action-y melee build, like doing something with Leap Slam or Shield Charge, but nothing really comes to mind that would make those skills 'pop'.

I'm in the middle of deus ex Human revolution.  Honestly its an incredible game.  The first one was unbelievably awesome, even though its so old now it still surprised me in how complex things were.  HR is an awesome update to the series and more importantly a ton of fun.  Anyone who hasnt played it yet needs to.

however i havnt played it in a while because i've been busy, and even now gaming feels like work because my backlog is over 100 games...:homework:

human revolution is one of the best games of the past generation for me. I wanna go back and play the director's cut because apparently it fixes a lot of the issues the original had, and it merges the dlc I haven't played into the game.

Been playing Skyrim since I got a crash to fix. Sort of playing ME1 again since I can finally take a Shepard all the way through the games. Some screwing about in a modded Minecraft server, never really played such a heavily modded setup and it's a little intimidating.

I played the vanishing of ethan carter today

these short first person interactive story games à la dear esther and gone home are unquestionably my favorite genre bar none. they are always so immersive and draw me in 100% unlike any other games do.

that said, I didn't find ethan carter to be quite as brilliant as the aforementioned two were, but regardless I enjoyed my time with it a lot, and it will standout as a highlight of the year for me.

i only like those types of games when they have a nice creepy atmosphere or are straight up horror like penumbra or amnesia. the hum and soma are two of my most hyped for games of 2015.

currently playing armored core verdict day and not much else. would be nice if i had the motivation to continue SMT IV but ive lost interest 10 hours in.

I forgot i had to go to church and pay 50k to save.

I had neglected to buy a memory card when I bought my ps1 with my birthday monies. One time I left it on for the entire day,  I wanted to go farther than the first few levels on Spyro. I just turned the TV off and covered the power led when I had to leave on some errands.

I tried to beat Spyro without a M. card once when I was home sick from school.

Played like 8 hours. My PS1 overheated and the screen went black right as I went into the portal to the last boss.

I've been playing borderlands 2 again. I transferred over my save from my brothers ps3 on to my computer. Still haven't beaten the main story, almost there, but I got sidetracked by Tiny Tina's assault on dragon's keep. The last boss, was easy enough, except when he summoned a red dragon that almost killed me in one blow. The the handsome sorcerer would deal the last blow, right after. I kept dying within  a minute of getting back up there. It was infuriating, until I managed to get the dragon alone on the lower level. After that the rest of the battle was a bit too easy.

I _tried_ to play Terraria. Kept freezing so it didn't go so well considering all the spelunking you do. Fall damage sure is dangerous.

But it was so nice to see my old comfy tower I built last winter. I'll have to return to expanding on it this winter!

Still waiting for AZN to come back and get that Terraria server running. One of these days surely... :sad2:

It's going to be a massive castle, and as its centrepiece it will have a large tower reaching from the depths of the earth into space.

I'm about 55 hours into Persona Q. It's basically Etrian Odyssey, it uses the same engine and has FOE's and everything. That being said I do love the EO formula and I think as a result of that this is the Persona game with the best combat by default. The dungeon design is consistently interesting with new quirks in each one, but that's where my praise ends.

The characters are atrocious. They simplified existing characters and the new ones are a girl who's ONLY character trait is that she likes food, and the other one has no personality whatsoever. Also having a story in an EO styled game, especially one as uninteresting as this, is a huge mistake. There's nothing more frustrating than being stopped mid dungeon crawl breaking your flow just to sit through some banal dialogue about how much this character likes food. :mad: It makes me want to throw my 3DS every single time.

I'm glad it's almost over.

It's disappointing how many people play characters that are boring to fight.
It's not difficult to fight Little Macs and Diddy Kongs, but it's really boring.
But it's all worth it when you find that one player who just wants to have fun fighting.

I pretty exclusively play fighters and shmups.

Though I did pick Psychonauts back up today after getting really far, being dumb and getting stuck, then not coming back to for 5 months.  :sparkle: Figured it out so it's all good....

I'm just kinda waiting for chapter 2 of Broken Age.  :sweatdrop:

Honestly you might be right; at this stage it really might not be worth the effort.
90% of the people on 4 glory are boring.
For Fun doesn't work because it requires 4 players and isn't stock based, so the match is really laggy.
And you don't actually have to  be good to enjoy it with friends.

I had reading week last week, so I ended up visiting my parents, and as such, was away from most of my vidya, so I played a lot of P4G on my vita. Beat shadow Teddie, and I'm having a rough time on shadow Naoto now.

I finished this today, it took another 20 hours because there was another huge dungeon after the supposed "last" one. It was stupidly huge and had some frustrating puzzles. I examined some random wall and it zapped away all my items in my inventory that let me return home and save, so I was stranded in the middle of the 9th floor of a massive dungeon after hours of progress and could lose it all in a second to one random instant death spamming enemy (which where everywhere on this floor) if they got the advantage. I actually liked the tension that added, I was gritting my teeth with every step I took.

Now I need to relax after that shit, no more video games for me until Atelier Shallie comes out.

SA is pretty good. One of my favorites in the series. Though, I'd say TD definitely feels the best out of all of them, despite seeming, unfortunately, a tad easier than most of the others.

Last night, I met up with some people who I'd never met, and ended up playing Arkham Horror, which is a Cthulhu mythos themed boardgame, with them for almost 9 hours.

And that was only 2 rounds.

Even if it was frustrating at times, it was pretty fun. One player exploited some lucky character traits and magic so that he was essentially playing as an old man who could kill or fight literally anything with magic, move to any space on the board in one turn, and ate a follower at one point to heal himself.

PS:Go for the one with the boobs.

Maybe I'm just a shitter, but I hate having to retread the same level over and over again. A good example of this is the fight with the Tauras demon. It's very likely that the player will lose to them on their first time, as they haven't worked out a strategy to beat it. Having to then go and retread the level again is just irritating, since I've already mastered it.

Dawn of War 2 isn't bad, but as a sequel to Dawn of War 1 it's just too different, and offers too little.

1. Base building is gone
2. Much smaller scale, focus is on few squads and cover mechanics nobody asked for
3. Eliphas came back but is just your ordinary brute Chaos Lord now ruining his legacy
4. Capture Points feel off, they get uncaptured way too fast and because you have so few units you can't defend them (or at least that was my experience when I first played ages ago) and the whole game really is just endless assault
5. Just 5 factions compared to the 9 of Dawn of War
Bonus Round: Unique visuals for established chapters and their counterparts for other factions are DLC, and not free

It's slow, but it's stupid how enjoyable it is to fly a robot around  :damn:

Did remove the explosive penis though so there aren't any... accidents.

The way reinforcements are handled pisses me off though.

I've been wanting to play this game for a while but emulators never liked it for some reason. The farthest I've gotten so far is level 2 boss.

Also Jamestown is great and looks and feels almost exactly like DoDonPachi so if you're a fan of Cave shmups I highly suggest it. Cool story as well.

It's really satisfying once you learn how to defeat that boss.
One of the things I love about Ikaruga is the way the difficulty works.
Having enemies release debris on suicide really forces you to use strategy more carefully.

I'm playing Super Metroid for the first time, after Nintendo raped Metroid at E3.
It's a pretty great game. Great atmosphere. Deserves the praise.

Been playing Phantom Breaker which I got during the summer sale. It's pretty standard Beat 'em Up but with tasty animay sprites. There's a whole bunch of characters to choose from. I'm playing the high school girl ninja (there's a lots of tropes, like maid, shrine maiden, cat girl, etc).
