I used to, but at work we just do JavaScript all day.

Here's my IT skill set:

JavaScript
PHP
CSS (Legitimately known as some kind of wizard when it comes to this, it's frickin' hilarious  :damn:)
Node
React
Redux
Angular (The first version, hate it, never touch this even with a 10 foot pole)
Databases in general, used different SQL ones and touched lightly on NoSQL
IBM Cloud
Java

I've pretty forgotten everything about a lot of stuff due to negligence and only having touched it once or twice. Like C#, Ruby, Python, etc.

Most unfortunately my greatest skill was probably ActionScript (the language Flash used) which is now deader than dead.

How do you learn so much? In 4 years of messy, fucked up uni, I've only covered Java, Javascript, PHP, HTML, SQL and Bash.

>Learning LAMP in 2018

Jokes aside, PHP and SQL have been losing a lot of popularity these days to Node and MongoDB (and friends). PHP is still the backbone of the web because it was the top dog for over a decade, but unless you're going to work on an older project / happen move to India, then there's a high chance you'll run into the MEAN stack, or similar.

I highly recommend looking into Node because your university seems to be a few years behind the times. (I wouldn't doubt it if that was the norm however, it's the trademark of any teaching establishment after all)

Also, it's a good idea if you like front end development to look into one of the big front end frameworks. That'd be React, Angular, and rising star Vue. There's also other neat ones like Ember and Meteor, but you're not as likely to find a job where that's used as it stands.

Noted.

I guess I'll just brush up on those when I have the time, then lie and say I learned it in uni, because if I thought self taught skills would be taken seriously by employers, I'd have dropped out by now.

PHP might be on it's way out but SQL is definitely still going strong, probably stronger than NoSQL movement. ( https://db-engines.com/en/ranking ) Also MongoDB is just not very good, as it had a whole lot of technical issues, such as not returning old versions of documents or not returning all of them when read. If you want to learn a NoSQL db look into CouchDB instead

I second using Couch over Mongo.
