Does anyone else not really like special occasions like holidays?
I guess it's nice to be jolly and all but it always totally throws me off my daily routine. It takes time to rev up to that level of productivity and long stretches of no school/work make me lazy and unmotivated.
Not to mention that pretty much all holidays are an excuse to get wasted with trashy people. Most of them also revolve around pointless consumerism and companies make full use of social pressure to get more money from you. It just keeps being perpetuated even though most people I know hate tedious holiday shopping. The worst part about it is that they are pretty much based on nothing, at least in North America, no one really gives a shit about Jesus' birth or whatever, people just want to buy their stupid gifts and go through the motions of 'celebrating'
Do we really need to do this every year?
