Title: Anime bookclub
Post by: McJongJing on April 24, 2016, 07:44:38 PM
Would anyone here do an anime bookclub? We pick a short series, no more than 12 episodes, and watch one episode a week or every few days, then discuss it here.
Feel free to nominate show.s

I don't really know any shows to suggest that I'd like to rewatch that fit the criteria

12 weeks is a bit much for one show btw, might as well do 2-3 episodes per week since that's around an hour of time investment still

I would but my autism of not completing a series as soon as possible would stop me from doing it once a week.  A series a day would tickle my fancy more.

Yeah trying not to watch everything in a single go would be hard, especially if you like it a lot

What about something with maybe 1-2 movies to it to start the ball rolling.

I'd be down for a 1 hour investment per week.

Huh, movies are a good idea

Any suggestions people?

What about one episode every two days, or one episode per day
As for movies, I'm not sure.
What about the Patlabor movies? Or Satoshi Kon movies
Actuslly, I'd watch the Patlabor OVAs with api

I was gonna vote Stranger but then I decided to go for Patlabor

Post by: McJongJing on April 25, 2016, 09:11:23 AM
It seems we're down to Stranger and Patlabor.

Normally it'd make more sense to do the movie first since it's shorter, but Patlabor is only 7 episodes.

I voted stranger but I'm fine with beginning with either of those.

Okay. Let's give it one more day for the possibility of more votes.

Aight, think it's settled. Starting today, we watch and discuss one episode of Patlabor Early Days every two days. Sound good?
Anyone who misses it is shamed as a smeghead.

the 1st ep was nice. The character are pretty good and have a good chemistry I feel.

The only one I don't like is the stupid one whose parlor lose his head.

Once Amazons is all the way out, let's do a Kamen Rider Amazons bookclub, it's only going to be 13 episodes

I like Otah a lot, but I can see why you'd dislike him. I imagine if Patlabor was real there'd be people making memes about Otah on 2ch or something. Like "can't keep Otah from reaching his Qouta"
I liked how they show the bureaucracy of the police department. For such a dangerous job it seems oddly relaxing.
I do love Noah, but part of me almost wishes she could tone down the love for Alphonse just a little. "Muh Alphonse can't drop from this height becuz he might get dirty nevermind that I have a job to do" Maybe I'm just autistic.

Also, why does Noa have black hair in the OP?
Title: Re: Anime bookclub
Post by: Kami_sama on April 27, 2016, 01:42:42 AM
Noah is cute but the same part made me cringe too.

However I find funny and entertaining the fact that nearly anyone in the team, including the chief, are all stupid in their own way. ^_#

Are we watching one episode per day? Or one every two days? Because I just went and watched the second episode
Title: Re: Anime bookclub
Post by: Ming on April 27, 2016, 10:24:44 AM
No idea. I think one episode every 2 days is better though, I know I have infinite free time personally as a NEET, but some people might not be able to watch one episode each day.

Alright watched the first episode.

It was quite different from how the TV anime starts. Ota seems a bit more gun crazy too. But I liked it,

Episode two we get the lovely Klancy. I want her to teach me Japanese :kyaaa:
As you can see, Otaking animated Noas dream sequence.

Title: Re: Anime bookclub

She has in some scenes too.

I thiiink it's possible they animated some stuff with her having black hair and changed their minds early on

Watched the first half of Sword of the Stranger last night before falling asleep.
It was pretty cool, the backgrounds were pretty and the fighting coreography creative. Little kid is an annoying shit though. Tobimaru best boy.

From now on we both need to read at least one chapter of YuruYuri in Japanese every two days.
Failure to do so results in a million yen fine alongside shame and regret.
