How complex is that tabletop? Could a newbie pick up the basics in a day or two?

The tabletop version is super fucking complex

With Megamek, the program does 90% of the math and calculations, so it's super easy.

I want to restate that I really didn't like the fucking exposition.
It doesn't feel like two people naturally talking.
"OH HEY REMEMBER THE WAR THAT HAPPENED 300 YEARS AGO"
Like me saying
"OH HEY GUYS REMEMBER VIETNAM THAT WAR THAT WAS 50 YEARS AGO"

I really liked how the Graze were an "oh shit" moment.
Everyone freaking the fuck out over the mobile suits.

Exposition was way overboard, but I don't mind it too much assuming they stop now that they've gotten the basics of the setting out there.

Where can I get the rules?

there's probably a pdf somewhere but you don't need them to play megamek.

So... the Orhpan's HG kits have... inner frames!

I knew the Barbatos had one, but I did not anticipate the Graze having one too.

You're going to be able to swap in parts from other kits to make custom Baratoses

By the looks of it, they have the articulation of the more expensive grades too.

It's too early to say if the show will be good or not, but god damn this is going to be the best line of HG kits they ever made. What really surprises me is that they're so cheap too despite having the frame. Both Graze (and its variants) and Barbatos are like 700something on AmiAmi.
