Nope, I'm talking about the first animated movie.

I'm not a megafan of the TV series, but I like both of the movies a good amount because Oshii (of which I AM a megafan) took helm as the director and injected them with his style, which explains the cutting down on silliness. He did the exact same thing to Urusei Yatsura when he directed a movie for that series.

The first movie is solid and enjoyable, but the second one is a huge step up from it. That one is basically a prototype for what he would go on to do in Ghost in the Shell a couple years later in terms of tone.

Just read Ganota no Onna / Gundam Otaku Girl

Really neat manga about a salary man... woman, who is extremely obsessed with anything that relates to Zeon, Char especially, and the shenanigans that occurs around her at the office and at home. The cast is totally not gender bent parodies of the UC cast by the way. No sir.

It made me a bit sad though because no girls can be as perfect as the heroine is in real life. I mean girls who like mecha? Haha, yeah right

We call em "fujoishi" Ming. They're usually at least a bit crazy.

Then again, so are we.

Doesn't gundam already attract fujoshi p00n?
Wasn't that the whole point of 00?

That would explain it. I kinda missed the silliness, but it works as a  stand alone movie.
I should watch the second one soon.

The fujos just like the pretty boys in the shows.

But I guess it's always something.

 :bath:

Oh yeah, my gunpla arrived, going to pick 'em up tomorrow after work! Also also, I downloaded both 0079 and AGE today. 0079 for obvious reasons, it's THE  Gundam show. AGE because I saw some of the kits and they are delicious, so I want to see them in action. Starting one of them today before bed.

Ming, how do you like your gunpla?

Ky, where are you meeting these girls?
I've never ever met a single girl who likes mecha.
Apart from some random girl I talked to yik yak whose favorite was Aldnoah . Zero out of ten

That's odd. They could just leave it on your doorstep.

Only UPS does that here. And thankfully so, I'd never trust it not to get stolen.

I've had the post office show up at my house with a package, leave a pickup receipt, and unload it at a different, further away post office before.

Starting to build my first gunpla, the FENICE RINASCITA, casually, while watching Gundam AGE. Not sure if I like it. But I'm on episode 9 so it must be doing something right. (The mobile suits are great, actually picked it up because I saw it had tons of cool model kits, not a big fan of the 'bad guy' suits in general though)

Might start on 0079 soon too.

The face mask split while cutting it off the runners

Yet I wasn't even using my nippers anywhere close to it

Yeah, that happened to me before too, when I was building the strike.
It's a real bitch, but you might be able to super glue it back together or something.
