I'm about 55 hours into Persona Q. It's basically Etrian Odyssey, it uses the same engine and has FOE's and everything. That being said I do love the EO formula and I think as a result of that this is the Persona game with the best combat by default. The dungeon design is consistently interesting with new quirks in each one, but that's where my praise ends.
The characters are atrocious. They simplified existing characters and the new ones are a girl who's ONLY character trait is that she likes food, and the other one has no personality whatsoever. Also having a story in an EO styled game, especially one as uninteresting as this, is a huge mistake. There's nothing more frustrating than being stopped mid dungeon crawl breaking your flow just to sit through some banal dialogue about how much this character likes food.
It makes me want to throw my 3DS every single time.
I'm glad it's almost over.
