In Sweden, a big part of our culture is 'fika' (Fee-kah). It's essentially a coffee break, where you drink the darkest, most bitter coffee imaginable, and enjoy goods with so much fat and sugar in it the only reason you aren't obese with rotted teeth is Viking Magic.

Some of the more fancy desserts enjoyed during fika

It is an unspoken rule to have a fika as much as possible, even during work hours. In fact, we love fika so much, it's replaced dating culture entirely, because there's no time to date with all the damn fika happening. If you want to woo a girl, you show your affection by asking her to have a fika with you. If she accepts, you're pretty much married.

When you don't have the dough to spend on the fancy stuff, there's always what we call 'kaffebröd' (coffee bread). Which can be found in pretty much in any store that sells anything edible unless it's a 'health shop'.

This has been another episode of Ming's culturally enriching program. Thanks for reading!

 :thank you:

This is an erbazzone, it's a spinach pie, it's an interesting dish all right.

this is prosciutto crudo, it's dry-cured ham. It's really salty, but in sanwiches and stuff, it's pretty nice.

here's parmigiano reggiano, otherwise called parmesan cheese.

Going a bit(a lot!) souther than Reggio, we can find stuff like the arancini (sicilian)

or the calzone

Yes, all of this is as tasty as it looks. And no, there are even more local dishes/foods etc. Almost every city has some food it can call its' own. The difference between regions is staggering.

balcan/turkish cuisine

Ljutenica is a vegetable relish, it can be used when preparing something or with bread. It's delicious either way. The catch is that there are different ways to do it, and of the ones I got, I enjoyed only one type.

This is tulumba, it's fried batter soaked in syrup. It's soft and sweet as hell, the syrup is really sweet too.

speaking of sweets, here is rahat lukum/turkish delight. It's basically gelatinous cubes. It's fun to eat and doesn't go bad.

here's ayran, it's a cold yogurt. Recommend it with kebab!
