It really is luck. Girls in anime clubs are usually just mugging for attention, or mentally fucked.

Really, it's luck for non-cringe otaku types to meet IRL anyway, since a good chunk are hikkis/NEETs, and most just keep it on the internet.

I didn't stick around my unis anime club for long, but Scumbag may or may not be right. The amount of  girls with dyed hair was staggering. I almost choked from the fumes.

Then again, girls in my HS anime club were alright. They had a decent power level (by hs standards), and honestly were way more pleasant to talk to than most of the guys.

One of my friends who's a 300+ib ginger literal neckbeard has had multiple girlfriends and the sex.
