Title: Skyrim Multiplayer
Post by: Ming on June 21, 2015, 03:25:06 PM
Apparently, there's a new mod in progress to give Skyrim co-op functionality.

I hope it gets somewhere.

Too bad Bethesda will never ever make a proper co-op supported TES or Fallout game. Adventuring with friends would be the best thing. Especially in Fallout, even more so now that we're gonna get player built settlements.

I'd give the MMO a try now that it's buy once play forever but man, I've never seen a MMO get so much hate. And the idea of an unmodded Elder Scrolls game isn't too exciting either...

Crystal Chronicles is the best adventure with friends game.

Me and a friend looked at this or something similar a few years ago.

Research indicated it was completely busted.

Jealous that X game you like doesn't have the biggest and most talented modding community around?

No because the company who made my favorite game didn't rely on the community to make it worth while.

I don't think Co-op is possible. There's too much checking that needs to be done, not only for the position of the connecting player, but also all the quests, items, and anything the connecting player will interact with in the world.

At best, they'll be a laggy ghost that can follow you around with horrible latency, but is unable to do anything else. It's impossible to alter the game hard enough to actually make it work in a fun, interesting way.

In other news, i've been playing modded skyrim since I got my new computer setup. I think my character is pretty cute.

I don't like the way the hair from that pack looks in light colors, and all the scarves and such that I see end up clipping badly.

I kinda want to dive into Skyrim again and try some of the magic overhauls

Not a big fan of the original system, worked for a while but in the end the spells are boring and you don't even get to make your own.

Post mod recommendations

 :wow:

ESSENTIAL:
Mod Organizer: (http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Mod_Organizer) This program makes adding mods easy. Not required, but it's much easier than doing things manually, much more reliable than using steam's workshop, and much less broken and shitty than using Nexus's mod manager
Wrye Bash: (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1840/?) If you wanna play Skyrim the right way, you MUST use this. You don't have to use the mod organizing itself, but you have to use the extra tools it provides! There are a few key features that seperate this from the rest of the mod managers. First off, you can merge mods and make bashed patches. A bashed patch is when you combine features with several different mods and make them not conflict or interfere with each other. You can also sort your mods and load order, get conflict notifications, edit INIs, and organize your saves.
Unofficial Skyrim Patch: (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19/?) This are a MUST HAVE, no exceptions. Bethesda are lazy, idiotic hacks that leave massive bugs in their games like fucking numbskull downsies. This mod, along with the versions for Dawnguard (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/23491/?), Hearthfire (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25127/?), and Dragonborn (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31083/?), fix these bugs, and don't make any unneccessary changes. 100% "Why didn't bethesda fix these themselves" territory. Download the main one, and each one for any DLC you have.
SkyUI: (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3863/?) SkyUI replaces the UI with a much better, friendlier UI that works better with PC and isn't a straight fucking console port, like Vanilla. It also overhauls hotkeys and the favorite system, for the better. If that weren't enough, it adds the MCM, or Mod Configuration Menu, which 90% of good mods use to let you configure and customize options for the mods. Very important.
MFG Console: (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/44596/?) During the end of Skyrim patch 1.8, people found out console commands that allowed you to edit facial expressions! It was an amazing discovery! Everyone found a way to use this whether it be screenshots or videos. Then a tragedy occurred, patch 1.9 came out which destroyed this feature, as well as some of the lip synching. Bethesda even said that nothing was broken, because they are hacks. This mod re-adds the feature, as well as adding some nice functionality to the ~ console. Very important for good screenshots, and general usefulness.
Precache Killer: (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/33526/?) When you add to many hair mods, Skyrim has a CTD when you go to make a character, because Bethesda are idiots. This fixes it. 100% needed if you want a good waifu, because the vanilla hairstyles are fucking godawful.
SKSE: (http://skse.silverlock.org/) Skyrim Script Extender makes 90% of mods possible. Without this magical addition, you can't play modded Skyrim. It's that simple. You /have/ to get this.

NO-BRAINER PERFORMANCE MODS:
Remove Underwater Grass: (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/55240/?) Removes underwater grass that you can usually not see in skyrim because people don't swim a lot. It's a great mod because would mods that add extra grass density, it also adds more unecesarry seaweed that you don't need at all. Free FPS
Skyrim Performance PLUS: (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/6387/?) Rain, Snow, and falling leaves are unnecessarily high-quality textures for seemingly no reason. Thanks to this mod, you can lower that, for free performance at no noticeable loss in quality.

OTHER S-Actually, you know, I was going to spend like, 2 hours posting this, but most of it is just plagiarized from TESGeneral (http://www.tesgeneral.com/#!essential/cs1p), the site the /vg/ thread for Elder Scrolls games uses. Use it instead

Now, as for the mods i'm using to make the character look like this specifically:
Enhanced Character Edit: (http://skyrimshot.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-22.html) For better character making options
SG Hair Pack: Find it on TESGeneral's 'How to Waifu' (http://www.tesgeneral.com/#!waifu/ch1j) page.
UNP Skinny Body: (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/6709/?) You can get this, or the normal one, both in the same link, or the "Busty version (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37900/?)". Or the "Curvy Version (http://mod.dysintropi.me/unpcm/)"
SG Female Textures: (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/35267/?) For pretty textures. Some people use Mega Milkdrinker (https://mega.co.nz/#F!iJcljYrD!F2Ka7HJAdyvyyVh3mMSGDQ), which looks good from what I see, but it requires more setting up, and is more taxing performance-wise.
Northborn Scars: (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49279/?) Vanilla scars are boring. These are nice looking. That's why my character has the Glasgow smile.
Improved Eyes: (http://www.mediafire.com/download/oazkppa90nqw1vb/Improved+Eyes+Skyrim-9249-6-2.rar) Better eyes. I think I used these, there are other options available.
SG Female Eyebrows: (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/35327/?) Better Eyebrows. Pretty sure I used this.

Also, ENB is very important. TESGeneral has a page on it: http://www.tesgeneral.com/#!enb/c5x (http://www.tesgeneral.com/#!enb/c5x)
ENB /can/ be very graphically intensive, expecially if you use a heavy preset. I use just basic, vanilla, unmodded, normal ENB with a few options turned on, and turn them off when i'm not taking a screenshot. Use whatever looks good.

I also used some armor mods and such, but i'll leave that up to you to choose what clothes look nice. TESGeneral has good suggestions on one of the pages.

Oh, I also use the MFG console mod I linked quite extensively to get good expressions. I'm not great at it yet, but if you want anything but boring resting face, use it.

"Facelight" is a good mod for screenshots, too, as well as some of the animation and posing mods suggested on TESgeneral: http://www.tesgeneral.com/#!poser-fu/c23kz (http://www.tesgeneral.com/#!poser-fu/c23kz)

If you have any more specific questions, just ask. To close off, i'm posting another picture of my character, this time having fun doing what she loves most.

I've decided on what I want to play!

At first I was thinking about unarmed khajit (...Are there any mods to replace the females with cat girls? There needs to be), but then I remembered something. BOUND. WEAPONS.

I've never taken these seriously before despite really speaking to me thematically, because y'know, can't improve them with smithing, nor can you enchant them which is a super serious drawback. But I found a mod that makes them scale with conjuration, giving them equal extra damage to what smithing would give of equal level.

And a some minor abilities (4% of current mana as bonus damage and some mana drain I believe). So that kiiind of redeems them. A little bit. It's no drain health + stamina though.

So this Friday I'll be doing a fresh install and spending most of my evening tightening up the graphics a little bit, then adding some essential mods, and then my dual wielding, sword summoning, undead loving, heavy armour wearing muscular body mod lady Orc is a go

I found a decent child mod for doing a loli witch character, but I can't help myself

Still, I'd probably have gone for a Breton.

You caaaaaan mod Skyrim to have deeper, more challenging combat. But I for one, don't care much about it. Might get a better enemy A.I mod though.

Anyone know the site? Googling "why Skyrims writing is bad" gives me nothing.
Title: Re: Skyrim Multiplayer
Post by: Ming on July 02, 2015, 07:56:57 AM
Don't know about it, but yes, the writing is quite poor. A lot of things in the game are of low quality to be honest.

I don't actually like the TES games much as they are, but I like the idea of what they are trying to be, so I let a lot of things slide and I can use mods to help it along. And they are taking more steps forward than back certainly with each one, so who knows, maybe in the future they'll make it great.

I really wish I had the resources to make my own open world fantasy RPG, but that's never going to happen.  :damn:

Don't be like that just as I'm trying to play the game.

I haven't touched combat mods for this install yet, I'll trial and error my way through some once I have my visuals all set up.

But I bet you can make it pretty decent. I know there are mods for damage based on location, enabling dodge moves, more deadly hits (for you and the enemy), better (and deadlier) enemy AI, making enemies use more skills, improved animations of course, and for making stamina impact both swing speed and damage.

There are several quest mods out there and whole storylines, I haven't really tried them out, but I know from mod reviews that a lot seem way more exciting with many times the effort of anything vanilla. Some even have 3d platforming if that's your thing.

Oh god

Looks like I made my game a little bit too difficult

I died in two hits from a bandit, and just falling a distance equal to my body height killed me too.

Then I died once again by falling, but this time because I use a heavy weather mod that nearly makes you blind in heavy snow. That it was night (I have very dark nights) didn't help at all either. I walked right off a cliff

(I use alternate start - live another life, so I begin the game in a random location at a random time, and I keep spawning in poor mountain conditions)

I think it's great, shut up :<

Actually, have a look at this, I think it's pretty neat.

As I've got it modded right now, curves and muscles scale with weight, severely.

I'm at 80% muscles and curves, seen to the left. Middle is 0%, and right is 100%.

(I know the hands are weird, I was messing around with different hands)

I could become a delicious flat chest by just changing one, single slider. (I guess I could alter height and some proportions for a truly loli character too). The cool thing thought is this means everyone in Skyrim should have vastly varying body types, unless Bethesda just set everyone to mostly the same weight.

For the record, I don't think 100% looks good, I'll change it so 80% becomes the new 100% at some point.

Edit: Or just remove the muscles on above 80%, and get delicious bbw milf instead. Yeah, I think I'll do that

Any suggestions for a non performance intensive female skin texture that looks more "soft"?

ie, none of this bullshit:

This is what I use, Fair Skin Complexion, which is very soft and fair

Don't worry, the muscles I have aren't part of it.

Even if the questlines in this game are a bit short (and easy), those last couple missions were pretty cool.

No doubt

But this time I wanted a muscular girl with childbearing hips

And there is nothing anyone or any god can do to stop me (though the horrible heat of summer may get in my way)

The face is a bit weird, but getting faces perfect is hard. I had to ask people in /tesg/ on /vg/ for advice which was nervewracking and time-consuming, but i'm happy with my character now.  :sing:

I fucking hate Cicero and his LOLSOCRAZYXD bullshit. That said, the Night Mother needs a keeper, and Lucien says Sithis wants him alive, so, he lives.

For some reason, I was only able to kill Astrid with a shout, which killed the moment a bit
