This is a HAPPY thread where we talk about all the WONDERFUL things that are stopping us from killing ourselves!
I'm not killing myself because I'm excited about the future.
It's the fucking future! :yay:
The future back in the 80s (aka our present) was going to be super cool.
They were gonna have hover cars, and holograms and space travel and mecha.
But they got it wrong.
But that's okay because it means that this time's for sure!
The future is gonna be HELLA awesome.

I was thinking about making this thread, but I already made a depressing one. My reason is one day I hope to have a wife and kids! just kidding that shits retarded. I haven't killed myself because I do not really know.

I desperately wish real life was like GITS or pyscho pass or some other futuristic detective anime. I wanna be an android and maybe frig an android babe, so I am holding onto life until I realize it's impossible

just waiting until that, or they stick fiber optic cables in our cerebellums and we can live out realistic fantasies and simulate all sensations that we maybe don't even know exist. Can you imagine if they could replicate the pain and anxiety of death in a simulation? Maybe you would want to live knowing by first hand experience how painfully it would be?

When you're dead you have nothing. Even of living involves a shitty pain/happiness ratio I prefer this over not existing at all.
Things that make me excited are the new discoveries in neuroprostetics and surgery. Maybe one day we'll be able to morph into touhou ! :yay:

I'm gonna be studying about BCIs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain%E2%80%93computer_interface) on my free time this summer. I'm hoping to do some sort of cool EEG (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electroencephalography) project in my last year of uni

During my master I'll be able to take a lot of courses involving prosthetics you can control with your brain. It really feel like in my sc-fi books! :eee:

I actually used a brain computer interface once when I was getting tested for adhd. You had to concentrate on moving Pac man forwards.
It was cool, but it felt really inconsistent.

While we're on the topic, have you guys seen the body augmentation already going on? Dunno about other countries but in America it's been happening underground, mostly in shifty tattoo shop basements right now. Last I heard all they were doing was putting a magnet under the fingertip. Functionality is super cool though limited right now, but it's a big step in an awesome direction.

My reason for not killing myself is... well I've said it before, but I don't really have reason to live, but I don't have a reason not to live either. I think a lot of people are like me in that regard.

I haven't killed myself (yet) because I need to experience The Last Guardian first. I also need to see how the Rebuilds end.
That and the prospect of being able to leave reality behind forever through VR.
Unfortunately for me TLG, The final Rebuild, AND the consumer Oculus keep getting delayed over and over, and it's really testing my patience.
Prosthetics interest me as a cyberpunk fanatic, but the reality of it is that they will be used to track and control you, just like they are already doing with your cell phones. Freedom is dead.

Trying to get into the gender debate is useless IMO. The best thing to do is to identify where the current gender policy is in your disfavor and find workaround to avoid them. This way you'll not be in the part of the population who had to face these drawback. :dance:

Rebuilds are good as action movies, but they don't live up to the original series.

No they don't, the original series and EoE is 1,000x better than the rebuild movies, that's for sure. But I still enjoyed them and am looking forward to seeing how it ends.
