I have mastered a new study technique.
First you start masturbating. Then you stop.
Then you force yourself to study by only letting yourself finish after at least an hour of work.

Very important exam in 2 days. I've studied it so much that I feel like I've reached a semi-enlightened state. :sparkle:

However I feel that the subject is hard enough for me to still fail. :owo:

What subject?
AND GANBETTE!!!!!

I have Economics tomorrow.
I did alright on the practice exams, but I'm worried that this one will change everything like the midterm did.

I wish I was good at maths.
It feels really great when you work out a complex problem.
Yesterday I wasted an hour trying to work out an economic formula because the answer sheet said I was wrong.
But then it turned out I was looking at the answer sheet for the wrong year.

AND, every fifth week off during semesters.

I've spend the past 4 weeks learning to read squiggles on tiny graph paper and playing with drugs.  Such is life.  Some people are having a really rough time because I'm going through a vastly accelerated program but I seem to be doing alright so far.  Im passing all my tests and havn't bought like half of the text books im supposed to have.  As much as i hate school, i really don't mind it when im good at the subject and it makes sense.  Im thinking maybe continuing collecting more certs after im done, but it would be so much money.  Cardiology isn't so bad right now, not nearly as bad as respiratory was class wise, but i think next unit is gonna be ass where we literally have 3 weeks to go over every system in the body thats not cardio/pulmonary.  So much fucking A&P.

Im really wishing i paid more attention in school, actually tried, and pursued a worthwhile degree when i went to college...  Then again cert programs are easier to stay motivated in.

Thanks guys~

Raz good luck with your three hell weeks.
What advice do you have for those of us who are still in College?

For the love of god take it seriously.  Its so easy to get caught up in the routine of school and not giving a shit about anything.  Its stupid easy to get into the mindset of "oh this doesn't really apply to me and i don't care about this class anyways".  Although it may seem strange you have more free time in college than any other point in your life and than you will in most careers.  You're on your own and its incredibly easy to slack off and manage your time poorly.  Pay attention, get your degree, and just suck it up even if you hate it.  You'll be much better off with that piece of paper that said you finished.  Most of the time traditional school is bullshit and has nothing to do with what you're real life responsibilities will be, but dont use that as an excuse.  It might seem silly of obvious, but take it seriously.  If you don't you'll regret it for years to come.

I got waitlisted for a 1 credit pe course though. I've got 2nd year Japanese, a welding course, some required writing class, and hopefully a gym membership/class thing. I'd just have to log hours in the gym. Easy enough right?

I'm assuming you sign in and out like any other gym you might have a membership for (though nowadays I think they use member cards and scan you in or whatever.)

The grumpy old man in me is saying that you'll really struggle to find a job in archeology.

That's great Ming! :yay:

I think even if you can't land a job as Indiana Johns a degree in archeology probably can help you find a job in the field.
Title: Re: Uni thread
Post by: Ming on August 19, 2015, 09:17:23 AM
I always wanted to get into the field, but yeah the whole no jobs / dying interest in the subject globally thing kept me away

Also I don't think Sweden is that academically connected in this particular field of study (outside anything relating to the viking era and our own country during the middle ages, of course)

But I'm going to look into it

I did find out that they started teaching Egyptology (and I have quite a boner for ancient Egypt, also Mesopotamia) at one university I'd like to study at, which is also one of our most prestigious ones, so there might be hope that there's some growth going on or they wouldn't open the door down that road, I hope  :damn:
Title: Re: Uni thread
Post by: McJongJing on August 19, 2015, 09:33:20 AM
Why don't you just get a general degree in history? That way archeology is still open, but you have alternative paths too.

Maybe I could straight up sell api to Google

there's got to be SOMEONE high up in the payroll who thinks it's charming/cute/so dreadful it must bought just so he can delete it from existence

I'd buy a big boat, find some friends and sail around while playing magic the gathering at sea and do some hardcore stargazing once I escape the clutches of light pollution

also whores

copious amounts of whores

I didn't have much of a choice.
And I have no clue how the roommate is, the first time I'll see him is when I go up today. I had a roommate the first semester last year, but he left after the first semester ended and I got the room all to myself for the second semester.
Title: Re: Uni thread
Post by: Ming on August 22, 2015, 05:58:08 AM
I was in a similar position

But instead of telling me ahead of time someone new would move in, they just showed up and were like "HERE'S YOUR NEW ROOMMATE :DDDDD"

turned out to be a guy I had already met at one of our magic events at the campus so we got along right away

if only he'd clean his room (it started to smell) and the kitchen, and not have the volume so high at night it'd been great

it's not every day you get to live with a eloquen/tg/uardsman who was probably a /jp/sie too (same for my neighbour actually)

My roomates in my first term were the sort who were loud and liked to get drunk, but they were easy to get along with, got me into parties, and sold me "stuff". I even bro'd out with them a bit over Diablo 2.

My second roomates were pretty dry, but ended up getting a free cat off a girl at a bar because she assumed they were a gay couple and it lived in the dorm for a while and was pretty cute!

It's funny, first day of school last year, there were parties spilling out onto the lawn everywhere, drunks reeling around and barfing in the streets, and general discord, but remarkably quiet this year.

Also, given how intent my roomates seem on staying in their rooms, I may go the entire term without meeting them.

One roommate I had, I only saw like about once in the morning as I was heading out, every other week. I think the most time I spent talking to him, was introductions when he first stopped by to look at the place.

I was in the shower and suddenly heard the apartment door be unlocked and swung open hastily so I was like WTF since I was living alone at the time and rushed into the hallway barely covering myself. I thought it was a robber or something. Maybe he thought I was a deranged pervert and that made him distance himself.

Eventually he moved out

Without saying anything

Like, I got home (late at night, after playing Magic or some other thing with the dudes), and there were some bags in the hallway

I thought nothing of it

Next day I wake up, all his stuff in the apartment is gone, and his door is ajar. I peek inside, and it's totally empty.

That was when I realized I'd been living with a Ninja

I'm such a nerd!
I love LotR movies, Attack on Titan, Marvel Movies, and StarTrek2009

THIS REMINDS ME.

One day I had just finished mowing my gma's yard so I was wearing this shitty star wars tshirt I got at walmart that was literally just a black t with the one genral ep 4 poster in white on the front and my dad had me drop some shit off at goodwill. The dude comes out to take the stuff and was like "DUDE! Nice shirt." and I was like "uh, t-thanks" and then there was an awkward silence and he was like "hey so you like lord of the rings?" and I was like "uh, yeah. I read a few of the books and the movies are nice" and he was like "yeah people who are into star wars usually like lord of the rings too soo" and then I didn't respond beyond a simple smile and nod.

I'm usually good at talking to people if I have to. Even if I don't want to I can usually fake it well enough but damn that was super uncomfortable and I had no idea how to respond to anything he said. SUCH A NERD.

I've become so detached from the real world that I really stopped caring about hiding my powerlevel when it comes to hobbies or lifestyles when I'm among normies. I don't think anyone really minds.
Sometimes they think I'm joking though, like when I act like I'm addicted to cocks  :kyaa:
The other day one of my classmates said "Dude, all joking aside, I get the feeling that you might be actually gay." and I was like "Nah dude, I like girls sometimes."

From all the normies I know who are into anime, I've never met any who was into moeshit.

Truly, moeshit is the thinking man's anime.

I even met someone once who was into some high level stuff like 2D traps, but nope, he hadn't even heard of lucky star or azumanga.

I onced tried to make a gay joke with my friends. They said that someone or something sucked dick, I don't recall it exactly, and I said "well, nothing wrong with an healthy dick from time to time" or something like that.

It was met with silence, somewhat awkward look and a "welllll, no really in fact kami".

I talked the least I could during the rest of the night.

First day of the term, completed. My Japanese class is still shrinking, there is only 4 people now. The new welding shop is really nice. Each station has its own ventilation vent, there's integrated curtains to keep the surrounding area safe from stay arc light, and their own outlet. There's a fancy new mandrel bender and a freaking plasma cnc cutter. Might cut some weeb logos out to hang in my garage later on. I got my welds complimented on my the substitute teacher, but I didn't real feel like I did it right. I feel like I don't have the control of the puddle as I'd like. But that's why I'm there. Had a go at the TIG welder, it's nothing like the MIG welder that I'm used to. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing with it.  Tomorrow I've got to go to the gym orientation, log in to an online writing class. Not a big fan of online classes, I get too distracted when I'm on my personal computer.

It's just a general welding class. Figured it might come in handy when I start my actual mechanic training at another school. Plus federal aid covers all my tuition because it's a community college. The sub mentioned that we could get training on it later on when the actual teacher shows up. We get to use most of the stuff there freely for the most part. I'm sure if I bring some sheet metal and the machine isn't in use it'd be okay, provided I learn how to use it properly.

In time, possibly. I'm taking a bit of a detour on my way to becoming a mechanical engineer. From what I've been told, most of what they'll teach you in engineering is mostly theoretical. So, I want to gain some relevant practical skills, while increasing my chances of getting a non shitty job while I finish the b whole engineering degree. Also, the community college I'm planning to go to has a partnership with an engineering school, their automotive associates degree can continue on to a bachelors in engineering.
After that, either I get a job at some car manufacturer or I'll open a custom shop specializing in retrofitting hydrogen fuel cell technology on old sports cars. And maybe designing my own cars for track use, and hopefully moving on to road legal passenger vehicles.
That's the general direction I want to take my career.
