Title: Bloodborne/Souls Series General
Post by: ScumbagSoldier on March 25, 2015, 01:00:47 PM
Anyone here got the chance to play Bloodborne so far?

I've been kinda busy with school stuff, but I got a few hours in last night. The removal of shields, and addition of mechanics like recovering HP by doing damage have completely changed the pace of the game.

Nope, don't have a PS4
I've been enjoying Dark Souls though. Just made it to Blight Town.
I'm pumping everything into STR. It's fun one shotting minibosses.

I like the idea of removing the shield in Bloodborne. In Dark Souls I could just tank with the shield.
Bloodborne sounds a lot more tense, since you have to be constantly dodging.

I got it in the mail today after I had been up for like 20 hrs, but I still played through the first two bosses on no sleep anyways. I like the pacing of the fights now that it encourages you to stop being defensive. I'm going full dex (or "skill" they call it now, w/e) with the threaded cane for range and the shotgun, it's been working pretty well.

So far I like it more than both the Dark Souls games by a lot, but not quite as much as Demon's Souls just yet. I'm excited to play more when I wake up, looking to see some cool new environments hopefully dripping with the oppressive atmosphere I am expecting.

Also this should be the new theme:

If you can, go for it. The game's rad as hell.

Wish-we-had-the-Berserk-license series as according to someone who only saw some let's play clips and heard other talk about it;

Demon's Soul: Great gameplay, railroad-y level design, meh graphics
Dark Souls: Great gameplay, open but less interesting level level design, meh graphics, PC port needs unofficial patch/fix to run decently
Dark Souls 2: Good gameplay, open level design, meh graphics, awful hitboxes, graphics and optimization very poor for a planned PC version
Bloodborne: Few weapons, aliums, good graphics, load times straight out of the 90s but with optimization patch on the way

The frame rate in Dark Souls baffles me.
It's not even that visually intensive, why's it run so poorly?
And yeah Ming, I'd love to see a Beserk Souls.
The cover for Prepare to die Edition looks very similar to one of the Beserk covers.

The similarities between the tauras demon and Zodd are so blatant that I love it

Where can they take this series after Bloodbourne?
I'd like to see Oriental souls. Ripping apart Oni in a spooky Japanese forest could be fun.

Alright, spoilered for interesting stuff I found.

if you stand in a specific spot in the graveyard outside the chapel, a portal appears, followed by your character getting picked up and teleported away after taking damage.

I'm not sure of the specific triggers for this, but I talked to the sick guy in the house after beating Father ChefBoyardee, and he gave me a flamethrower.

Blood-starved Beast was the best boss yet, requires a lot more precision dodging than the other ones did for me, and then there's the mind games of spacing when he starts emitting an aura of poison when you get too close. Cool stuff, yo.
