I wish I had some birds but sadly living in a rented home means I can't build a large enclosure for them.  Birds are cool as.

Let them chill in the backyard. People let cats roam about, why not birds?

Birds are great! There are plenty of smaller birds you can get one or two of that easily and happily live inside with a medium sized cage. Just keep in mind birds are very social and require a lot of attention, especially if you only have one.

We use to have a huge enclosure the size of a single garage for birds but then we moved.

That's pretty big.
We recently got a bigger cage for my birds. They kinda just pair off and go into their respective corners now.
