Oldschool Western Cartoons
« on: September 19, 2014, 11:41:02 PM »

This is a thread about non-Japanese older cartoons and anime.
I'm assuming a lot of us watched Nick and Cartoon Network as kids (or not - I still watch Spongebob episodes sometimes) so lets talk about some of those shows here
I know there's quite a bit of an age range for us princesses here so don't be shy to post older things as you'd like!
I wanna get that nostalgia feel goin' but you can discuss new cartoon shows if that's what you're into.

I'll start with a classic and one of my favourite shows of all time: Courage the Cowardly Dog

Aside from being jam packed with great visuals and fun stereotypical gestures, this show was legitimately frightening at times. Lots of episodes dwelled into absolutely bizarre territory even by today's standards which is why this show so memorable for me and lots of others. Staying up until the little hours of the night watching this show without my parents knowledge was some of the spookiest times of my life. I guess my fascination with /x/ stuff came along at a young age  :owh:

Did you girls watch this show? What did you think of it?

Courage was great. I should find a torrent so I can watch the episodes I missed when it aired because I am sure I missed a few. You're not perfect The only WESTERN I watch theses days is Adventure Time and Korra. I guess Bravest Warriors would go there too but it's an online cartoon.  :sparkle:

I watched both Bravo and Courage. Great shows (though for 'scary' kids shows I preferred goosebumps).

My list of greats I can think of on the top of my head:

SWAT Cats
Aladdin (the Series)
Hercules (the Series)
Timon and Pumbaa
Batman the Animated Series
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Transformers

Here's another amazing show that some of you may remember:

This was probably my first introduction to anything Japanese, the animation and plot of this show are soooo fun to watch and remain relevant for older people. It's a shame there isn't something more adult oriented like a novel to expand upon the universe in which the show is set.
What a fun series, apparently there's some comics out for it now which might be worth looking into

fuk it ima go watch some episdoes rite now

Samurai Jack was supposed to have a movie, but it got cancelled because the Powerpuff Girls movie didn't make enough money (primarily because they only advertised it via Cartoon Network). According to the creator's blog, he's resumed work on the movie (this info is circa 2011 I think so *shrugs*)

Me. I was also terrified of enemies in video games because I felt responsible for the characters deaths.
