Magic is easy to learn Red! But hard (and fun) to master.

Basically, you draw cards from your own deck of cards, play those cards to summon creatures to fight for you, attack your enemy with said creatures until he dies, and then you win. Or you die first, thus losing the game. Simple!

Your deck of cards consists of at least 60 cards that you pick for yourself. And there have been thousands of cards made for Magic that you can use.

Of course, since the game is called Magic, there are tons of different spells and effects to stir things up and bend the rules of the game to your will. Exactly how crazy or just plain WEIRD things can get, depends on the players and what cards they choose to use in their deck.

Some people don't even use creatures at all to deal damage. Some people don't even give a damn about damage, and use other alternative ways to win.

All in all, it's a game that lets you customize A LOT. You usually play the game 1 vs 1, but you can be as many people as you want really, doing either a Free For All, or one team vs another team.

I'm gonna try to build a Skeleton deck

I always wanted one but there's like 2 good cards

Makes a good low power starting point though  :sing:

How will we play each other when we're so far apart?

Cockatrice. It's a program that lets you play card games online (for free).

You can import a library of all the magic cards, build a deck, or several, and then join a lobby or just invite friends.

It works with other games? Would anyone also want to try Weisswars? It always looked fun.

I thought it worked with other games but I guess not after using it again, it's just magic

Had fun yesterday guys, gonna put together a new deck for next time

For real? It said open source for tabletop games in general on the site. Regardless, I dl'd the other night and I'm on vacay this week so I'll be trying it out sometime.

I made a kinda low power/hobo budget equipment deck if anyone wants to play tomorrow

Also working on Ninjas

Hell I'd love to make all sorts of Kamigawa decks

I can't help it, it's a weeb thing

For those who don't care about older sets and blocks, it's THE japanese mythology block

You got onis, all of the spirits, kamis, moon people, samurai, fox creatures, the crazy kinds of youkai, ninjas, etc

Wasn't Kamigawa one of the weakest standard sets?

Yes.

But it has crazy flavour (think they even released 2-3 books), and actually some really powerful cards that see play even today and go for a lot of money.

Problem is a lot of stuff either costs one or two more mana than you'd pay nowadays to cast it, or just uses mechanics that don't synergize with a lot of stuff outside of Kamigawa itself. (or both)

So you don't really see Kamigawa heavy decks today because they'd get beat really badly if played against more serious stuff.

Didn't sets having accompanying novels used to be standard procedure?

The Urza saga, the Weatherlight Saga, etc.

I'd imagine the books are pretty meh, but it's a shame they at least don't make some token effort in regard to this. I'd read some fiction set in Innistrad.

Oh God, Now I wanna make all Innistrad decks.

You're right there used to be tons of books coming out for every block.

But I guess lorefags didn't buy enough to support them keeping it up.

I'm not sad about it though because I wouldn't read them anyway in the end

Played with Kami

Thinking I should either tune up my Equipment or Ninja deck, or maybe pick something else from Kamigawa to breathe life into because best block needs representation damn it!

It's a shame, Innistrad was a lot of fun!

Got some fantastic card draws on the release too (3 snapcasters for one)

:ecchi:

I'm building a new deck that heavily relates to Innistrad by the way. It's gonna be an updated version of an old one I used to run. I call it "Artistic Expression"
