Title: age
Post by: McJongJing on May 06, 2015, 03:30:24 PM
Who's the oldest here?
I'm fairly certain I'm the youngest, at 18.
Oldfags, what life advice can you offer?

23. Avoid women in general, be a narcissist.

Post by: Ming on May 06, 2015, 04:09:25 PM
I'm 24, 25 in September.

I have no advice to give other than enjoy life while you still can and life's too short to spend it worrying about things you can't control.

Also, smiling actually makes you a bit happier. Try it and see what I mean. Humans are WEIRD.

20. Smiling for no reason is dumb.
Title: Re: age
Post by: McJongJing on May 06, 2015, 04:38:16 PM
"A smile seems to have a favorable influence upon others and makes one likable and more approachable"

From the same Wikipedia page
"recent research indicates a man's smile may or may not be most effective in attracting heterosexual women, and that facial expressions such as pride or even shame might be more effective."
We got a chance boys!

When I turned 18, I went "wait, what the fuck?" because it felt like there was a bunch of whitespeace in the past 3 years.

I did the opposite.
The past three years were huge for me and my development as a person.
When I turned 18 I had a huge "what the fuck" moment.
I find it hard to believe I'm legally considered to be an adult.

I never saw a point in making a big deal about age, or even applying value or meaning to it.

For you, the day age 18 graced your life was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.

I never saw a point in making a big deal about age, or even applying value or meaning to it.

Age does have some significance. Younger people have an underdeveloped prefrontal cortex that makes them be worse at decision making. This is especially important since the front of the brain is where most of your most complex brain functions happen, and is mostly responsible for what we consider a person's "personality" to be.
Usually this part of the brain doesn't fully develop until your mid-20's at which point you also lose plasticity which means it will be more difficult to change afterwards

I feel like my opinions are maturing all the time, but when I go back and look at what I've said on Facebook since like 2010, I start to have doubts. My opinions are the same, but the way I deliver them and elaborate on them has gotten a lot more erratic and almost psychotic. My sense of humor is roughly the same, but I  only interested in irony and post-irony.

I wonder how I will feel when I am 25? I wonder it life is just going to be a downward spiral of insanity and a loss of my beautiful youth. I love being young and beautiful. Some day I am going to be old and ugly and fat, and it makes me sad.

I deleted a bunch if photos from my Facebook because they made me embarrassed. I was always very toned down on Facebook when I was 15 and 16 though, compared to how I was on anonymous imageboards. Everything I posted in my name was very calculated and deliberate.

Now I just use Facebook to vent and post anime babes for future reference. An average post is just a semi-nude anime girl with some ranting nonsense that I feel strongly about, because my life is boring and I don't have any friends.

I think I used to have like 180, and I cut it down to 35. I really couldn't even care less about the people I went to high school with or random neighborhood losers back home. Sometimes it feels silly that I of my own free will threw away all of my attachments to my past. I make plenty of friends through work and social circles, I guess, but I don't feel the need to communicate online with them. I literally have no one I can call a friend that would have my back or support me though.
