Is merchant fun to play?
I want to go maximum jew.
It's that, or an acolyte advancing into a monk.

Merchant is slow if unfunded, mediocre if funded+geared (for a funded+geared character). Would suggest if you like the slow grind on weak mobs. Monk is similar really (might be even slower early), but gets a lot faster come 2nd class.

Merchant sounds like shit then.
Is it worth sticking it out with the monk until he gets better then?

Sure, monks are pretty popular. I think Hiro is going for one as well.

I'd the game and take an archer. To play with you I have to install the client provided here ?

Monk a is hard route to take. Mostly because prior to becoming a Monk, you're a squishy support with next to no damage output. Levelling is painful. Luckily, you got api to protect your butt and do all the damage for you! So don't get discouraged. I for one love monks  :kyaa:

Because once you do become a Monk, things change quickly! You start beating things up nicely. Disadvantages are your skills do drain resources quickly if you want to keep your DPS at max so you have to restrain yourself often, and you don't really have any proper AoE options at any level.

What I love about monks though is that they have a lot versatility other mostly auto attacking classes don't. For one, you get an amazing nuke which helps ever so much against bosses and in PvP of course. Another is Mental Strength, which gives you 90% damage reduction. This, is godly. Dedicated tanks with exceptional equipment can't compare to this amount of damage soaking you can do. Does disable you from using skills while you have it active though, and it slows you down. And it's temporary. If it runs out in a bad situation, you're dead.

Another cool thing is Snap. Snap moves you from point A to point B at super sonic speed. No one can out run you, no one can catch up to you.

The drawback to all the versatility is of course, it takes a lot of skill points to get all the cool stuff, so you have to make some sacrifices if you want to specialize.

Probably not. I'll write a guide on how to play once the server is set up.

Archer is also a great class choice

Hiro, if we specialise, can we like, co-ordinise?
It wouldn't be very efficient if we both specialised in the same thing.

If you both want healer/support one of you could go priest? I've never played this game so I'm not sure if that would be useless.

The only classes who can really party effectively are Priests and maybe bards/dancers. Otherwise, leveling solo is often the most efficient.

Oh, and monks don't really do much in a party unless we need to tank some things or to mob less effectively than swordman classes.

Come to think of it, we have no priests. That's probably going to be me at this rate.

I think we both want to punch things.
I can go priest if no one else wants to play support though.

Read Mings description of Monks.
